»Christmas eve«

by Bartho Geldenhuys, December 25, 2017

Have things to do at home...
My excuse for wanting to be alone,
How easy she said yes – me too,
Being relieved for being able to leave,
No confrontation, fighting, having words – just having things to do,
Needing my own space,
Having seeing her evening after evening,
Having no real explanation for me leaving,
Not understanding for wanting to be alone,
Is it because she is not the one,
Does she feel the same?
Because Christmas eve needs to be spend with someone special?
