»Insecure«

by Brendon Tawanda Takarinda, August 13, 2019

The mirror tends to be
the harshest critique.
Self-love feelings towards
myself with a hint of doubt
make me feel hideous in my
own skin.
Comparisons with others
make me wish to be another
human being.
Forgetting that all my scars,
trauma and defects were intricately
placed by the divine God.
Yet insecurities still make me feel
hideous.

This poem was inspired by the song Naked by Ella Mai
